Statement of Intent

I intend to create a popular, well thought of, music video.  Along with the video, I'll also create an ideal website for the artist chosen, which will additionally have different links to accompanying pages all about the band/artist.  The typical codes and conventions of the dance genre music videos will carefully be followed during my work. I want to ensure it fits into the dance music genre. I will use different types of media language to do this, including using audio over my music video. I still need to select a choice of music, and make sure that it fits into the dance music genre, whilst also appealing to my target audience. I still haven't decided on a final song that I'd like to use. I will use a range of different camera angles and editing techniques in order to create an attractive, appealing and entertaining music videos which will appeal to my target audience. I'll need to consider the lighting and graphics when filming my video, as I would like to ensu

Dance Genre video analysis

Red Lights by Tiesto and Nobody to love by Sigma are both songs from the dance genre. Their individual music videos show similar conventions in their actions. Both videos have upbeat music, playing in unison to the editing of the video as well as a constant rhythm throughout. Both videos also heavily imply their dance genre, as a main feature of them includes dancers moving along to the music. The representation of gender (particularly women) is shown greatly in these two videos and is politically incorrect in the representation.    The video by Tiesto begins in a lower class American diner, with a tracking shot of a working waitress. This shot most likely uses a hand held camera to give the video a sense of realism, which is carried out throughout the continuity of the video and constructs the narrative performance to look like a 'home video'.  The performance as a narrative itself follows two young women taking a spontaneous journey.  The video uses many close up shots with

Advertisement Comparisons

Gucci Bamboo: This advert is for a female Gucci perfume called Bamboo. It shows model Gal Gadot wearing a revealing silver dress, matched with silver jewellery and quite natural make up. The dress is a low-cut one, which shows all of her back, as it makes her look quite vulnerable and 'attractive' to both the female and male eye. It has been used to represent Gadot as an idol for women, as she is young and admirable, so it is hoped that with her presence in the advert, women will see her as someone they might aspire to be and go and buy the perfume. The silver jewellery and natural make up have been used to imply her worth, as silver is expensive and 'rich'. Along with this, the perfume bottle is also silver which relates to the idea of richness and expensive buys, just like the perfume, dress and jewellery.
